United Way Leeds & Grenville announced today that the annual campaign goal of $885,000 has been exceeded. In fact, the team surpassed the target by close to 15% raising $1,015,323! This is a remarkable achievement by the community in a year still plagued by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Community Investment Committee is already hard at work to disperse these dollars where they can have the largest and most positive impact. The Pandemic will continue in 2022 to put extreme pressure on all the social service agencies who support the most vulnerable in our Leeds & Grenville community. United Way Leeds & Grenville is committed to stewarding the donations entrusted to us to help make a meaningful difference every single day.
“The people of Leeds & Grenville have done it again!”, said Ian McFall, Chair of the Board of Directors for United Way Leeds & Grenville. “These funds will be allocated to a long list of deserving and dedicated agencies in our community. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Thank You to the Campaign and staff team who combined to raise even more dollars than we raised in 2020. The community of Leeds & Grenville knows of the important and vital role played by UWLG. A sincere thank you to our donors.”
“We knew going into this year’s campaign, that we were, again, facing special challenges imposed by the COVID-plagued social environment, and that we would have to develop programs to adapt. I’m delighted to report that; as a team – Staff, Cabinet, and Volunteers - we rose to those challenges, and I congratulate Trish Buote and the team for this wonderfully successful campaign outcome.” said Campaign Chair, Terry O’Reilly.
“But it is not us who donate these needed resources,” he added, “Our real thanks go out to all the volunteers and donors who, so generously, respond to these increased community needs. And I do hope that the volunteers and donors who do this, will take a few minutes when they hear this announcement, to really feel justifiably proud of themselves for being that kind of people, and for making Leeds & Grenville a better place to live, for all of us. This announcement should make us all feel proud and fortunate.”
